Welcome to the Friends of the Caspian Horse!
This website was created to provide registry independent, up-to-date information about the Caspian Horse to anybody interested. It is a platform for breeders and owners to show their purebred and partbred Caspians and offer their horses for sale. The Caspian horse has much to offer to equine community, yet it still is underappreciated and mostly unknown. With it's gentle nature and incredible gaits and jumping ability it is the ideal choice for the competitive young rider. Children with showring ambitions will find that the Caspian can stand its ground against taller breeds in competitions while being much more suitable to young and small riders.
Unfortunately the Caspian breed still numbers under 2000 registered horses worldwide and not all of them are actually alive and available for breeding. It needs our attention and dedication to survive these rough economic times. By no means is the survival of this breed secured and it will be up to us to ensure that they will be there for coming generations.
What can be done you asked? Currently the Caspian is still rather unknown and often belittled. We need to establish the breed as an excellent children's riding horse that can compete in any discipline and is easy to handle even for small children. For ambitious parents the Caspian is additionally a delightful harness horse that moves fast and with agility while on light contact.
